Yo, dude, back in ’98, Half-Life totally blew everyone’s minds with its epic mix of intense action and sick storytelling. Valve’s first game totally crushed it, racking up over 50 game-of-the-year awards and being called “Best PC Game Ever” by PC Gamer.

Now, dude, Half Life 2 takes everything that was awesome about the first game and cranks it up to eleven with crazy new realism and responsiveness. You are in a world where your actions seriously impact everything from the environment to how people and enemies act and feel.

You’re back as Gordon Freeman, the scientist with a crowbar, trying to save a messed-up Earth that’s crawling with aliens and running out of resources. Freeman’s got to fix the mess he made at Black Mesa, and a bunch of people are counting on him, buddy.

Half-Life 2’s epic gameplay is thanks to Valve’s new Source® engine, which brings some major upgrades:

Characters: They’ve got this next-level facial animation system with 40 different facial “muscles,” making them look super realistic and respond to you like never before. You may also be interested in the game Roundscape Adorevia.

Physics: Everything from tiny pebbles to huge trucks reacts realistically, obeying all the laws of physics.

Graphics: Source’s shader-based renderer, like the one Pixar uses for movies like Toy Story® and Monsters, Inc.®, makes the game look insane with the most beautiful and lifelike environments ever.

AI: Your buddies and enemies don’t just run at stuff blindly. They can figure out threats navigate tricky spots and make weapons out of whatever is around. So yeah, Half-Life 2 is totally next-level, bro!

5. Enjoy playing! Remember to run the game as an administrator. If you encounter any missing DLL errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs it contains.
