OVERVIEW
The Empty Halls drops you into a creepy exploration game that looks like it’s straight off an old VHS tape. The whole thing is built around “liminal spaces”—those weird, in-between places that mess with your head. Think abandoned offices, pitch-black parking lots, empty malls, and playgrounds with no one around. There’s nothing obviously wrong, but you can’t shake the uneasy feeling that something’s off.
A lot of the game’s areas pull ideas from those wild Backrooms stories you see online. Some mysterious company hands you a VHS camera and basically says, “Go poke around these bizarre places.” So you wander through these empty worlds, filming what you find, always on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary—sometimes even creatures that shouldn’t exist. Missions show up through this clunky old VCR system, laying out your next target or location. Every new place keeps you guessing, and nothing ever feels quite safe.
