OVERVIEW
It’s the 1980s. Summer. You’re 10 years old, bored out of your mind. Dad just sold your game console, and Mom’s tired of you hanging around the house. “Go outside. Do something useful,” she says. So, you grab a pitcher and some cups, drag a rickety table to the sidewalk, and boom—suddenly you’re running a lemonade stand. You’re not in it for the cash; you just want something that’s yours.
At first, it’s just a way to kill time. But then it starts to feel different. You figure out how to mix up a decent drink. You actually talk to the neighbors, make small jokes, swap stories. Sometimes you run into little problems—spilled juice, grumpy customers, the wind stealing your paper sign—but you handle it. Turns out, you’re learning more than you thought. You pick up a few friends, start to feel braver, and realize you can stand up for yourself, even if it’s just you and a stack of plastic cups on a hot sidewalk.
