OVERVIEW
The Temple of Elemental Evil first came out in 2003, and fans have stuck with it ever since. Now there’s a fresh update, and you can tell it’s made with real care—thanks in large part to the Circle of Eight and Temple+ folks from the community. The game just runs better. Bugs? Fixed. Performance? Smoother. Controls and menus? Way more user-friendly. All this hard work means newcomers get to dive into a classic D&D adventure that actually feels good to play.
So, what’s the story? Ages ago, this evil demon woman started a cult obsessed with dark elemental powers. They set up shop in a temple near the quiet village of Hommlet, right by the dangerous wilds around Nulb. The cult got stronger, spreading terror and violence far and wide. It took a ton of fighting, but armies of good finally beat them, tore down the temple, and brought peace back to the land. For years, people forgot about that terrible place.
