Yo dude, check out Old World Behind the Throne. It’s all about the crazy drama and power plays in the royal court with new mechanics, rivalries, and flashy projects to help you win.

You have these new historical characters popping up as advisors, viziers, aristocrats, and courtiers, bro. These dudes have their own ambitions and goals and they might switch sides or double-cross you.

Will you stop them from betraying you, or will the throne of Babylon get taken over by pretenders? And what about your best general turning on you after years of service? You can let others manage your cities and befriend them, or watch out as they become dangerous rivals hungry for power

There are over 350 new events all about court politics, intrigue, and personal ambition. The court is like a big web of lies, personal goals, and opportunities, yo. You may also be interested in the game Glitch Daddy.

You’ll meet Alcibiades, the Athenian double-crosser; Enlil-nadin-shumi, the usurper of Babylon; Harpagus, the Kingmaker of Akkad; Bardaisan, the scientist and philosopher of Assyria; Mago the Author, the Carthaginian writer on agriculture; and Avicenna, the famous Persian philosopher.

You can build Estates, which are super expensive but come with sweet benefits. Opulence is a new project you can use to earn extra victory points. You also have Slums, which help grow your population faster but come with the risk of rebellion, buddy.

Watch out for Rising Stars – powerful non-leader characters who bring both opportunities and dangers. They can trigger all sorts of events good and bad. If they get too annoying, you can always find a way to “deal” with them.

Stress & Revelry are another thing – all the crazy stuff happening can stress out your ruler. Will they indulge in hedonistic pursuits to escape?

The Grand Vizier can take over managing your cities, each with their own focus. Wise Viziers boost culture, courageous ones recruit military units faster, and disciplined ones create specialists and projects quickly. But beware, dude – power corrupts, and even a trusted Vizier might eye your throne.

New Political Eras bring challenges like civil wars grand reforms, and periods of corruption and decadence.

Fall victim to court schemes or use them to your advantage – with rising stars, rivalries, and plenty of revelry, anything can happen on and behind the throne, bro!
